Benefits of Chiropractic Care
Adjust your thinking and your health.
Join the millions of Americans who have not only found relief from back pain, but also a pathway to wellness with chiropractic’s natural, drug-free approach to healthcare.
Your spinal column, made up of 24 independent vertebrae, is what allows your body to move, twist, and bend through every motion of your busy day. It also encases and helps protect the delicate central nervous system that controls and coordinates every muscle, tissue and organ of the body. This is why we believe the first step to an active lifestyle is a properly functioning spine.
When two or more vertebrae aren’t functioning together properly, it is what many chiropractors refer to as a subluxation or a misalignment. These subluxations are actually joint dysfunctions that can cause you to experience pain, discomfort, decreased mobility, or many other symptoms and conditions. Joint dysfunctions often go unnoticed and can cause miscommunication between your brain and body.
Joint Dysfunctions in the spine may eventually lead to symptoms in other parts or joints of the body as well. These symptoms are your body’s only way of letting you know something is wrong. Unfortunately, the absence of pain is not an indication of health. By the time pain and symptoms appear the problem may have been present for months, even years. The great news is that you can help prevent these types of symptoms and conditions with routine chiropractic care.
Resilience Clinic Health Systems Chiropractic Care Starts With…
Each patient undergoing a comprehensive initial exam, where FULL notation is taken on the patient’s description of the condition. Keeping your account and concerns in mind, tests are run to accurately identify and diagnose the problem. A treatment plan is made and the patient is instructed to follow a healthcare regime of mind, body and soul; including Nutritional council, Physical therapy, Massage and Chiropractic. In the case that a surgical consult is needed, a competent referral will be made and all records will be forwarded upon request.
Chiropractic treatment serves to allow proper alignment of your spine. Being that the spine is the direct communication to the body, from the brain, its full function is ideal for proper health. Minor aches and pains are your body’s way of reminding you that your spine is not in agreement with a particular activity. If ignored minor symptoms may become more severe. Our duty is to allow the spine to be quickly corrected alleviating you of any further danger.
Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.
Doctors of Chiropractic – often referred to as chiropractors or chiropractic physicians – practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.
The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as “spinal manipulation,” also called “chiropractic adjustment.” The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement – as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the sufferer. Manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal.
Chiropractic adjustment rarely causes discomfort. However, patients may sometimes experience mild soreness or aching following treatment (as with some forms of exercise) that usually resolves within 12 to 48 hours.
In many cases, such as lower back pain, chiropractic care may be the primary method of treatment. When other medical conditions exist, chiropractic care may complement or support medical treatment by relieving the musculoskeletal aspects associated with the condition.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT RESILIENCE CLINIC HEALTH SYSTEMS CHIROPRACTIC & PHYSICAL THERAPY
Expect something positively different.
Whether you are familiar with chiropractic care or this is your first time, you can expect your visit to Resilience Clinic Health Systems to be new and different from any healthcare experience you’ve had before. Perhaps even life-changing.
For starters, you don’t need an appointment. You can walk in whenever we’re open and be seen by our licensed chiropractors whenever it’s convenient for you. Even evenings and weekends. You won’t need a referral or any insurance to receive care immediately either. You may experience a short wait before seeing your doctor, but wait times are minimal and usually just enough time to complete your initial paperwork. Your initial paperwork is to help our chiropractors get a better idea of your health history and current needs.
During your first visit, your chiropractor will explain how joint dysfunctions may occur, how a chiropractic adjustment is used to correct them, and the many benefits chiropractic has to offer. If you’ve never been adjusted before, this is a great way to have some of your questions answered by a knowledgeable licensed Doctor of Chiropractic, so you know exactly what to expect. The doctor will answer any questions or concerns you may have prior to initiating treatment.
Your Consultation, Exam and Adjustment
After a consultation and exam, the doctor will determine if you may benefit from chiropractic care. If so, you will be adjusted in an open bay area on a comfortable adjustment table made specifically for this purpose. You will remain fully clothed for the duration of your visit, so we recommend you wear non-restrictive clothing to make it easier to rest comfortably while lying down on the table. A portion of your adjustment may be performed while you are face down, while other adjustments may be delivered while you are either on your side, sitting upright or lying on your back.
What is the Popping Noise when an Adjustment is Delivered?
The popping sounds you hear are your joints releasing tiny pockets of gases. A chiropractic adjustment does not affect the bones of either side of the joint, but rather the connective tissue that holds the joint together.
Is Chiropractic Care Safe?
Chiropractic is the largest, non-invasive, drugless and safest forms of health care available. Statistically, patient risk is substantially lower when receiving chiropractic care as opposed to medical care, where the use of prescription drugs and surgery pose a greater risk.
Does Chiropractic Care Hurt?
Chiropractic adjustment is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort because minimal force and gentle pressure are used. In fact, most patients feel relief immediately following treatment.
Will I be Sore following a Chiropractic Adjustment?
Any reported soreness after an initial adjustment has been described as similar to that associated with starting a new exercise program. Drinking plenty of water, using an ice pack, and engaging in light stretching after your first visit can help ease any discomfort to promote healing.
How Long will my Visits Take?
This all depends on the length and severity of your condition, however, most first visits may last as much as 30 minutes. Follow-up visits are much less, often as little as 5-10 minutes.
How Often will I need to Return?
At the end of your first visit, your doctor will determine the best course of treatment for your specific needs. The frequency in which you receive chiropractic care is strictly up to the professional judgment of the Doctor of Chiropractic and will vary from individual to individual depending on your presenting condition and overall goals. Just as regular visits to the dentist are necessary for good dental hygiene, routine visits to a Doctor of Chiropractic for proper spinal function and health maintenance are also important.
Our chiropractors treat patients by delivering a chiropractic adjustment. If, during the course of your exam, the doctor feels that care is contraindicated, you will be referred to the appropriate healthcare provider and/or facility.
If you have specific questions, needs or concerns, you are always welcome to call!
